How to control your distance on the putting green

Struggle with distance control on the greens? If so, take a tip from expert putting coach and PGA Professional James Jankowski and those 25 to 50-footers won’t seem so problematic.

For James, it’s all about the speed of the stroke. Let that govern the stroke, rather than specifically worrying about how far you take the putter back.

“There’s something that creates the length of the back-stroke – and that is speed,” says James. “It’s the speed that creates the length.

“React to your target, take in the speed that you need – how fast do I need to move that putter?”
