PGA professional Chris Cutchie reckons that upwards of 70 per cent of the golfers that come to him for lessons struggle with transition – that’s the bit when the backswing moves into the downswing.

It’s all too easy for a golfer to throw their hands and arms ‘over the top’, or do the total opposite: drop them behind and on the inside, leading to posture problems.

Either of the above scenarios sound familiar? Fear not as Chris has a quick fix that can significantly help with ball-striking and shot flight. And in his words, it’s an “unbelievably simple tip”.

Check out this video and see how Chris has great connection between his left and his chest at the top of the swing from where his magic move can ensure a top transition…

“What we need to try and do in that transition is feel like we’re going to pull that left arm down our chest,” he says. “The club-head drops nicely from a good position into an even better position; slightly under the plane and into a position where we can then turn our body onto the golf ball and get a much, much better strike.”

Now it’s your turn – give it a try!
