Women’s participation in golf has gone from strength to strength in recent years but like in any sport, taking those first few steps can feel daunting.

To help get you started in the best way possible, PGA Play asked PGA Professional and Custom fitter at Peter Field Golf, Jasmine Campbell, to draw on her experience and share her top tips for women who are new to the game.

These expert insights are designed to help golfers have fun and to feel at home on the golf course from the get-go.

Find a Ladies Group at your local club

Try and find a beginner or social ladies' group at your local golf club that you can get involved in.

Find a second-hand or starter set of golf clubs

Golf can be overwhelming and expensive at times. To get yourself started, and to give you something to practice with, try and buy a second-hand ladies set or even a starter set.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help!

All golfers have to start somewhere, and you probably have lots of golf related questions that need answering. Ask your local pro at your golf club, they are on hand to help.

Practice!

Coming to the driving range can be daunting. I would suggest putting in some earphones, listen to some music, an audio book or a podcast to block everyone out. Practice is the key to golf so don’t be afraid!

Wear what you are comfortable in!

Some golf clubs have dress codes but when going to the driving range or your local nine-hole course, just make sure you are comfortable and wear what you want!
